This morning I wrote about a few updates from Nvidia’s Keynote at CES last night. So I figured it was appropriate to cover some Nasdaq-100 index updates too. NvidiaThere is no doubt that Nvidia is the A.I. leader. They have captured the attention of every single industry. First, at the application layer because it powers so many A.I. apps. But if you’re a developer, the hardware layer is even more important. I recommend checking out their latest announcements and reading my LinkedIn post for product updates.
Advanced Micro DevicesAMD is always launching new devices. I’ve seen Lisa Su speak at CES several times now. It’s worth mentioning that she is Jensen’s cousin. Now AMD is a great business but they are way behind when it comes to Nvidia’s market leadership. From the developers I’ve spoken to, AMD simply lacks the software edge. Nvidia has done a terrific job building the application layer for their A.I. chips.
That’s why, even if I see Dell’s processor partnership with AMD, I still think Nvidia will win the A.I. workstation game.
MicrosoftIf you haven’t yet, I recommend listening to the BG2 podcast interview with Satya Nadella. There was a time when Microsoft was considered a mature, low-growth company. This was most notable during Ballmer’s era when product development stalled and acquisitions failed. However, Satya has changed the game. He reinvigorated the culture in every division. Today, Microsoft is firing on all cylinders when it comes to gaming, computing and much more. Their OpenAI investment has given them a distinct advantage as well.

When I started on Wall Street, I remembered every investor had the HP 12C Financial Calculator on their desk. It was a powerful, handheld device. Of course, when investing there are only a few important variables worth noting: present value, payments, interest rates and future value. When you sit on a trading floor, accuracy of these 3-4 variables are essential when investing....
Here are a few Nasdaq updates I’ve observed in software this year. Earlier in 2024, I was initially focused on cybersecurity threats in financial services. ISMG has several great events and roundtables if you want to learn more about the industry. It’s the best way to learn the latest security threats and how executives are handling them. But since June, I’ve had to focus more on A.I. technologies since the applications have ramped up. Personally I don’t have time to master the hardware and...
How to Invest in Fintech for 2025 With the new year, it’s time to reposition your portfolio for growth. For the past two years, Fintech has been dead. But now with the Trump Administration, two things will happen in 2025: 1) IPO activity will pick up, and 2) deregulation will make fintech very attractive. To get started, here are a few recent posts I published this month: The State of Fintech: I wrote a short breakdown on the industry, some threats and opportunities. My Thoughts on the...
